Study guide to The Second Wave

The study guide for the film The Second Wave is now available on our website. The Second Wave, which deals with environmental toxins in the Baltic Sea, is the third documentary in the Foundation's ten-year media project The Baltic Sea Media Project. The study is based on the documentary, and gives examples of different ways to deal with issues related to the Baltic Sea.

Our focus areas

fisheryThe stock of predatory fish is crucial for the state of the Baltic Sea. Therefore, we are working to ensure that the environmental effects of fishing should be a central part of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy. We are also working on projects to increase the proportion of predatory fish, such as pike and perch. Read more

eutroEutrophication is caused by emissions of nutrients that come from e.g. agriculture, water treatment plants, sewage and transportation. To find measures that could reduce emissions we work on projects in agriculture, industrial animal farms and the coastal zone, to research on measures to catch or bind nutrients. Read more

seagull-informationTo create awareness about the threats and opportunities the Baltic Sea is facing, we have initiated a 10-year media and film projects with journalist Folke Rydén and photographer Mattias Klum. Since 2013 we also support Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre (Baltic Eye). Read more
