Documentary about ghost fishing in the Baltic Sea PDF Print E-mail

This project will document lost fishing gear that drifts and keep on catching fish for no ones gain. The documentary will also contain material about plastic and industrial waste.

Background

Fishing gear that has been torn and lost from fishing vessels or even just been forgotten drift in the Baltic Sea. The gear continues to catch fish for no one’s gain. The stray fishing gear is called ghost nets/gear and is a form of marine litter. The ghost nets have a negative impact on safety at sea for both recreational and commercial maritime traffic but also for the fishing industry as well as causing ecological damage. Ghost fishing is cruel and a waste of natural resources.

Objectives

The movie will in a personal and artistic way address the problem of littering and ghost fishing in the Baltic Sea and allow people with possible solutions to be heard. The film is supposed to appear at film festivals and hopefully at TV channels all over Europe.
